Diary of a tyro art promoter

This started in 2004 as a diary of what happened as I was promoting the art of my aunt, Hannah Frank, b. 1908, a Glasgow artist and sculptor, who studied at the Glasgow School of Art in the 1920s and beyond. My aunt died at the age of 100 in December 2008 but there's still lots going on: she was given Glasgow University‘s only posthumous doctorate, and she has achieved her wish of her art becoming ‘footsteps on the sands of time‘. 100th birthday 23 August 2008 - photos by Kush Budha

Visitors to Westacres on Hannah's birthday included actress Miriam Margolyes - who'd flown in that morning from Chicago! The local MSP and MP Ken Macintosh and Jim Murphy also dropped in. Jim, who's Minister for Europe in the current Labour government, took time out of his own birthday celebrations to share some chocolate with Hannah - though he was born on 23 August 1967, shares a birthday with Hannah - though he was only born in 1967, nearly 60 years after our illustrious artist.
